By accessing our website or participating in any i-LEAD programme, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

1. About i-LEAD Self Defense NPC

i-LEAD Self Defense NPC (Registration No. 2017/507664/08; NPO No. 218-034) is a South African non-profit company registered under the Companies Act 71 of 2008. We provide violence prevention education and self-defense training to women and youth.

2. Use of This Website

You may use this website for lawful, personal, and non-commercial purposes only. You agree not to:

Reproduce, distribute, or republish any content from this website without prior written permission

Use the website for any fraudulent, unlawful, or harmful purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the website or its underlying systems

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any user who violates these terms.

3. Workshops & Programmes

3.1 Participation

By registering for or attending an i-LEAD workshop, you acknowledge and agree that:

Physical self-defense training carries inherent risk of injury. You participate voluntarily and at your own risk
You are responsible for disclosing any medical conditions, injuries, or physical limitations to the facilitator before participating
i-LEAD facilitators are trained instructors but are not medical professionals. Nothing taught at a workshop constitutes medical advice
Participants under 18 require written parental or guardian consent prior to participation

3.2 Programme Fees

Community workshops may be offered free of charge where funded through donations and sponsorships. Corporate, private, and institutional sessions are subject to separately agreed fees. i-LEAD reserves the right to change its fee structure at any time with reasonable notice.

3.3 Indemnity

To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, i-LEAD, its directors, employees, facilitators, and volunteers shall not be liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from participation in any workshop or programme, except where such injury, loss, or damage results from gross negligence or wilful misconduct on the part of i-LEAD.

4. Donations

Donations to i-LEAD are processed securely via PayFast. By making a donation:

You confirm you are the authorised holder of the payment method used
All donations are voluntary and non-refundable, except where a processing error has occurred
i-LEAD is a registered NPO and may issue Section 18A tax deduction certificates for qualifying donations upon request — contact info@i-lead.org.za
Donations are used solely for the delivery of i-LEAD's programmes and operational requirements

5. AI Safety Advisor

Important: The i-LEAD AI Advisor is an educational tool only. It is not a substitute for emergency services, professional safety training, or legal advice. In any emergency, call SAPS: 10111 or Ambulance: 10177 immediately.

i-LEAD operates two AI Safety Advisor channels: a web-based advisor at i-lead.org.za/advisor.html, and a WhatsApp-based advisor at +27 65 910 9403. Both are powered by Anthropic's Claude AI.

By using either AI Advisor channel, you agree that:

The AI Advisor provides general safety information and guidance only — it cannot assess your specific situation in real time
Responses are generated by Anthropic's Claude AI and may not be 100% accurate or applicable to your specific circumstances
You will not rely solely on the AI Advisor in emergency situations — always contact emergency services first
You will not use the AI Advisor for unlawful purposes or to plan harm to yourself or others
Your interactions are subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy in addition to these terms
i-LEAD accepts no liability for any harm resulting from reliance on AI Advisor responses

5.1 WhatsApp AI Advisor

When using the WhatsApp AI Advisor, you additionally agree that:

A temporary session file is stored on i-LEAD's server (hashed phone number only) for up to 24 hours to maintain conversation continuity, then permanently auto-deleted
You may opt out at any time by sending STOP to the WhatsApp number — your session will be immediately deleted and no further messages will be sent
WhatsApp message delivery is governed by Meta's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service
By initiating a conversation, you provide consent to the processing of your message content as described in our Privacy Policy

6. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, images, logos, programme materials, and the i-LEAD brand — is the intellectual property of i-LEAD Self Defense NPC or its licensors. All rights are reserved.

You may not reproduce, adapt, publish, or distribute any content from this website without prior written consent from i-LEAD.

i-LEAD's programme frameworks, training methodologies, and curriculum materials are proprietary and IP-protected. Unauthorised reproduction or delivery of i-LEAD programme content is strictly prohibited.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, i-LEAD shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of this website, our services, or the AI Advisor.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Your use of this website is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

12. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
